Burlington County Health Department Offering Flu Vaccines Beginning September 18
The Burlington County Health Department announced its free flu vaccine clinics schedule to protect residents and keep communities healthy.
The Health Department will be holding weekly flu vaccine clinics at various locations throughout the county, starting on September 18, 2026, with two clinics in Washington Township and Bass River. Subsequent clinics will be held in Woodland, Evesham, Palmyra, Maple Shade, Wrightstown, Bordentown City, Burlington Township, Florence, Tabernacle, Shamong, Medford, Burlington City, Moorestown, Westampton, and Willingboro.
“The fall may be a busy season with lots happening at school, work, and in our communities, but it’s also a time to prioritize your health and the health of those around you,” said Burlington County Health Department Director Dr. Holly Funkhouser Cucuzzella. “Respiratory viruses like Influenza can cause serious illness and even death, and the best defense is a seasonal flu shot. No matter your age, health, or occupation, we recommend you take advantage of this available tool to protect yourself and your loved ones.”
“Burlington County consistently ranks as one of the healthiest locations in America and programs like this are proven to make a difference,” said Burlington County Commissioner Randy Brolo, liaison to the Health Department. “The U.S. Centers for Disease Control, American Medical Association, and family physicians across the nation all recommend getting a flu shot, and we are grateful our Health Department is able to make sure this important preventative medicine is accessible to everyone.”
All Burlington County flu shot clinics will be open to the public and available to anyone 6 months or older (children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). The vaccines are available free of charge to any Burlington County resident (regardless of where the clinic is held), but donations are accepted and appreciated.
Residents are encouraged to print and complete consent forms before coming to a flu shot clinic. The forms are available online at https://www.burlingtoncountynj.gov/355/Flu-Information.
All residents 6 months and older are encouraged to get vaccinated, but health officials stress the vaccine is especially important for older residents, young children, pregnant women, and those with chronic health problems. Those populations are considered most at-risk for serious illness from flu. People who work in nursing homes, long-term health care facilities or other health care settings are also strongly recommended to get vaccinated.
In the United States, the flu season typically begins in the fall and activity peaks in January or February. It takes about two weeks after vaccinations for antibodies to develop and provide full protection against the flu.
“The general advice we give residents is to get protected before the flu season starts,” said Dr. Funkhouser Cucuzzella. “Getting vaccinated sooner is better, but it’s never too late. You can benefit from the shot so long as the virus is circulating.”
